The repertoire of the Darpana Performing Group includes traditional and new work in Bharatanatyam, Kathakali and Kuchipudi, solos, duets and group compositions. The Bharatanatyam repertoire reflects the vibrant Pandannallur idiom interpreted by Mrinalini Sarabhai.
Trained in the Pandanallur style of Bharata Natyam by the gurus of Darpana Academy, including her mother Mrinalini Sarabhai and the late Kitappa Pillai, Mallika performs a wide repertorie of traditional items. Her Kuchipudi repertoire, developed under her guru the great C R Acharyalu, inlcudes rare and near extinct items from the temples of Andhra, some of which she alone performs. With a contemporary approach Mallika makes these styles accesible to aludiences all over the world without diluting the traditions.
