Darpana regularly holds workshops on various aspects of art and performances, led by both Darpana staff and by guest artists and experts. Darpana's theatre and social activism experts also lead workshops for children, high school and college students, and professional groups for a wide range of subjects, including team building, communication, theatre and dance-theatre studies, street theatre and performance activism, and social issues such as gender equality, communal harmony, and violence.
At the moment, there are no new workshops planned for December 2010 - check back soon or contact us for more info about upcoming workshops.
Outreach School Performances:
Kalyani School – Atul (2011): Above 1000 students were involved in the workshop followed by the dance drama “Is it a dream?”.
Manav sadhana (2011):A multimedia creation with Manav Sadhana school in the Gandhi Ashram, on the spirit of ONENESS involving 16 kids from the slums of Ahmedabad. These children will perform for three months in the United States.
Atul Vidyalaya(2010):A workshop along with a production with 905 school students of this school. The play production called “Un Heard Voices” was based on the life of the unsung heroes of modern India.
Atul Vidyalaya(2009): Atul Vidyalaya from Atul, Valsad invited our faculties to train their school students in performing arts and also create a performance piece with them. The performance piece was based on darpana’s earlier production “Yatra Gurjar” which, talks about the rich history of Gujarat state. More than 800 school students were involved in this production.
Stephens School, Ajmer (2008-2009): “INDIA THEN FOR EVER” a play was followed by the workshop with 600 students.
Neerja Modi International School - Jaipur (2007-2008): Two productions - “Unsuni” - a play on the peoples voices which have never been heard and “Dances of Life” including almost 1100 students.
Neerja Modi International School - Jaipur (2006-2007):“India Then-Now-Forever” the performance production was followed by the workshop with 500 students.
Neerja Modi International School - Jaipur (2005-2006): Choreography for one of their theater production and regular workshop was conducted with the students in the school
Mayo College Girls' School - Ajmer (2004-2005): Workshop on folk dance with 300 to 400 students of the school, and created a performance piece based on folk dances from across India.
Neerja Modi International School - Jaipur (2004-2005): Workshop with 500 students of the school which created a performance piece called Krishna the musical.
Neerja Modi International School - Jaipur (2003-2004):Workshop on folk dance with 300 to 400 students of the school, and created a performance piece based on folk dances from across India.
Mayo College Girls' School - Ajmer (2002-2003):Above 200 Girls' were involved in the workshop followed by the dance drama “Is it a dream?”.
Manav Sadhana (2001-2002): A performance piece on unity was created with 20 kids from the city slums. The performace travelled through the United States for two months.
